One of the country's best-loved kindie musicians, Joanie Leeds, is excited to return to Philadelphia for a rocking family show with her band, The Nightlights, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 21 at the Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania, 100 E. Northwestern Ave., Philadelphia, PA. This is a WXPN Kids' Corner Concert.
Joanie Leeds & The Nightlights' show will be a high energy, interactive experience from start to finish, showcasing such "Joanie favorites" as "Mosquitoes," "Are We There Yet?," "Wimoweh," and "Happy As A Clam," along with an array of genre-hopping tunes from Joanie's newest album, Good Egg, such as "Hipster in the Making." Kids are encouraged to come to the show dressed like hipsters! Joanie Leeds says, "I've never been one to stay stuck in any one particular musical style because I know kids love 'em all -- rock, pop, funk, soul, ska, go-go, gospel, country -- and frankly, so do I!" Watch Joanie Leeds in action on her Youtube channel HERE Gifted with a soulful, "rock solid" voice and an instinctive knack for capturing the essence of any style she goes for, Joanie Leeds has delivered, with each new release, music that thrills admiring adults yet speaks to kids in a friendly, non-patronizing way. Says Sirius/XM's Kids Place Live Program Director Mindy Thomas, "Joanie Leeds is that cool babysitter who would let you try on her lip gloss once your mom left the house. You idolized her, and your mom knew she could trust her. That's Joanie. Only she's also likely to completely ROCK THE ROOF OFF YOUR HOUSE!"
