Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WQXR Presents The Choral Mix Live
By: Gabrielle Sierra Jun. 01, 2011
Johannes Brahms is often revered for his orchestral music, which embodies the Romantic era that he dominated - but his choral music, brilliant yet lesser known, strides an equally dramatic emotional range.
To mark the closing of the Sing New York! Choral Festival, The Greene Space at WQXR will present THE CHORAL MIX LIVE: BRAHMS IN LOVE AND LOSS on Tuesday, June 14 at 7pm, an evening showcasing the range and beauty of Brahms' choral work. For his program's first live broadcast from WQXR's multiplatform performance studio, KENT TRITLE - host of the WQXR radio program The Choral Mix with Kent Tritle and Music Director of the Oratorio Society of New York, Musica Sacra and the Choir of St. Ignatius Loyola - will welcome the NEW YORK CHORAL CONSORTIUM for a one-night celebration of Johannes Brahms. The Consortium, which is made up of voices from choirs throughout New York, will perform the entire Liebeslieder Walzer, or "Love Song Waltzes," an immensely popular and charming 18-part song cycle, as well as sections of Ein Deutsches Requiem, or "A German Requiem."· PATRick Gardner, Riverside Choral Society
