Folk and pop icon Gordon Lightfoot returns to the Capitol Center for the Arts (CCA) in Downtown Concord, NHon Friday, June 22, 2018 at 8PM. The artist is best known for hits like "If You Could Read My Mind", "Sundown", and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".

According to the web site No Depression: The Journal or Roots Music, Lightfoot's love of music started at an early age. As a child, he was surrounded by an extended family who loved to sing at family gatherings. He soaked it up and soon he was singing for money at these get-togethers. He quickly realized he had a good voice and could do something with it. Lightfoot also began singing in the choir and at various functions/events around town; he even cut his first record before turning ten.

By 1965, Lightfoot had released a single, "I'm Not Sayin'" and other artists were singing their own versions of Lightfoot's songs. He wrote new songs everywhere he went and his talent grew in depth and expressiveness.

Several of Lightfoot's albums achieved gold and multi-platinum status internationally. His songs have been recorded by dozens of renowned artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Barbra Streisand, Sarah McLachlan, Peter, Paul & Mary, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, Glen Campbell, The Irish Rovers, Olivia Newton-John and Paul Weller. Dylan called Lightfoot one of his favorite songwriters and observed that when he heard a Lightfoot song, he wished "it would last forever".

Tickets for the June 22 performance may be ordered by calling the Capitol Center for the Arts at (603) 225-1111 or online at ccanh.com.
