Variety reports that Fox is currently developing a one-hour drama series based on the plot of Caleb Carr's novel SURRENDER, NEW YORK.

The story focuses on Dr. Trajan Jones, a NYPD criminal psychologist who moves to the small town of Surrender in upstate New York to bring his controversial ways and personality. In Surrender, he will team up with state trooper Penelope Howell.

The Jackal Group will produce. Richard Wrenk will write the script, while also serving as an executive producer. Wrenk has previously written the scripts for action films such as THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, THE EXPENDABLES: 2 and JAKE REACHER: NEVER GO BACK.

This is not the first time Carr's novels have been adapted for television. TNT plans to release THE ALIENIST this year, which follows a serial killer who preys on male prostitutes in New York in the 19th century.
