With a smooth rumble like a shiver from the San Andreas fault, Dirtwire, the Bay Area-based electro-acoustic duo of David Satori (Beats Antique) and Evan Fraser (Hamsa Lila, Stellamara), return with their highly-anticipated new EP, The Carrier, out September 9 on Beats Antique Records. Dirtwire will be touring the West Coast in support of the release, with the chance to see favorites performed with live instrumentation beginning in September. Further tour details are available below and at dirtwire.net/event/.

The Carrier EP follows Dirtwire's Summer release, the Ondar EP on Six Degrees Records, a homage to the musical legacy of the late Tuvan throat-singing master Kongar-ol Ondar (1962-2013). The Carrier is a very eclectic 7-track EP that waxes cinematic with contributions from special guests Rising Appalachia, Leah Song, Chloe Smith, TBird Luv, David Brown, Seth Ford Young, Sidecar Tommy, and Rich Canut. With Dirtwire's signature "downhome electro-bluesy" sound, The Carrier is sure to inspire fans of their debut self-titled release. The EP was recorded in a series of late nights at Oakland, CA's Beats Antique Studios.

The title of the EP was inspired by the artwork of Brin Levinson, which is featured as the album cover. As Evan Fraser explains, "When we saw the art we realized what a powerful image it is - a turtle carrying a city on its back reminded us of the earth itself carrying us all around the galaxy. One of the Native American names for the continent we live on is Turtle Island. The art fits so well with our music and these crazy times we're living in."

Dirtwire's Fraser and Satori, both talented multi-instrumentalists, belong to the Bay Area's luminescently vibrant electronic world music and dance community in many ways. Satori co-founded Beats Antique, a performance/music group, which has risen to tremendous popularity through festivals such as Burning Man. Fraser performs with global groove-infused bands Hamsa Lila and Stellamara. The duo met while studying world music composition at the California Institute of the Arts, and released their first recording as Dirtwire in 2012.

The name Dirtwire is a description of the elements of their music. They state, "We like dirty sounds that have some grit to them and our setup uses a lot of wires. The dirt represents the organic earth element and the wire represents the electronic elements in our music."

Catch the dirt, the wires, the grit, and the beautiful music that results live on their upcoming West Coast tour at the dates below. For more information on the release, including a free download of the single "Damn Rooster," visit thecarrier.dirtwire.net
