Bright Light Bright Light's pride-themed video for "New York Pretty," the latest single from the solo the project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Rod Thomas, premieres via NewNowNext. Watch the video, which NewNowNext calls "a love letter to the queer apple," here.

Co-directed by Thomas and Daniel Robinson, the video was inspired by inspired by "RuPaul's Drag Race," Kylie Minogue and Big Business starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, about self-belief, self-worth and ending up in the right place.
"It has the same idea as "Big Business" starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin-that you've been in a place that doesn't feel right to you, and then one day you find yourself in a place that immediately feels like home," says Thomas of "New York Pretty." "For some, that's the countryside, a beach, or maybe where they grew up, for me it was New York where everything made sense and I felt the best about myself in a very long time."
"New York Pretty" is the first track to debut from Bright Light Bright Light's forthcoming EP title is taken from the seminal Armistead Maupin series of the same name, and chronicles, in part, Thomas' move from London to New York.
To celebrate the release, Thomas will play select, very special dates this summer, kicking off this weekend with shows in Washington, D.C., Nashville and Atlanta and culminating in an EP release show July 7 in New York. Please see below for full tour routing.
The EP serves as a companion piece to Bright Light Bright Light's acclaimed 2016 release Choreography, and features Choreography favorite "Into The Night" as well as a new track called "Thinking About It."
Of "Into The Night" Thomas says, "It's inspired by the Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Goldblum film of the same name-the idea of meeting someone who changes your world in an instant, and whether it's instinct or almost madness, you follow them to see what happens, no matter what anyone else thinks."
Tales of the City joins a pair of Cinematography EPs, which feature Thomas' covers of his favorite songs from film, which have served as major inspirations for the Bright Light Bright Light project.
Thomas, born in Wales and based in both London and New York, formed Bright Light Bright Light in 2010 and has since released three LPs: 2012's Make Me Believe In Hope, 2014's Life is Easy andChoreography.
