Australia's Nina Las Vegas Announces SXSW Show Details

Nina Las Vegas - Australian DJ, producer, presenter and radio personality - makes her SXSW debut DJing and presenting some of her favourite artists as part of Austin Party Weekend (hosted by IHEARTCOMIX). On Thursday March 19th, NLV Presents will host sets and performances by (in alphabetical order) IKONIKA, MY NU LENG, NADUS, NINA LAS VEGAS, REDINHO and TKAY MAIDZA and special guests.

As one of Australia's most prolific live DJs, and as producer and presenter of Australian radio station triple j's Mix Up Exclusives, Nina Las Vegas enjoys a massive listenership, curating four hours of essential and forward thinking dance music mixes broadcast every Saturday night, streaming worldwide online.

She's also a prolific touring DJ, Nina has spun relentlessly around best clubs and festivals in Australia, as special guest on shows for Diplo, Mark Ronson, Pharrell Williams, Baauer and MIA and at key festivals such as Big Day Out, Stereosonic, Splendour in the Grass and Groovin' the Moo.

Nina's NLV PRESENTS tours in Australia were the first to showcase the likes of Flume, Cassian, Wave Racer, Tkay Maidza, Motez and Carmada (LRDU and Yahtzel). Her brand expanded in 2014 to introduce international talents such as Eclair Fifi, UNiiQU3 and Sam Tiba to Australian audiences.

Here's Nina's breakdown of the SXSW NLV PRESENTS showcase:

Ikonika: "Repping UK based label Hyperdub, Ikonika is all class. Her 'Position' EP was one of my favourite releases of last year and therefore smashed on my radio shows and DJ sets!"

My Nu Leng: "Signed to Black Butter Records, Jammo and Tommy from My Nu Leng are two killer DJs. Playing anything from their originals, remixes, UK Grime, house, bass music and

RnB, there is a reason why everyone wants them to play their tours, parties and festivals. And after they came into my triple j radio show, me included!"

Nadus: "Spreading Jersey Club music to the whole world, Nadus' EP 'Broke City' was universally loved. I've probably played 'Nwxrk' in every set since it came out on Pelican Fly last year and so happy to see him getting love from all the big bass players, like RL Grime, Baauer, Rustie and Cashmere Cat."

Redinho: "Ever since hearing Redinho's 'Playing With Fire' in Hudson Mohawke's triple j mix late last year, I've been obsessed with this guys production and vocoder skills. Signed to Numbers, it's no surprise he's one of my favs... their selection is all fire."

Tkay Maidza: "Without a doubt, Tkay is the most exciting up and coming act from Australia! Only 19 y/o, this Adelaide can rap as fast as Twista and sing better than anyone else I know. Having toured her in Australia early last year, I'm so excited to have us play together at SXSW."

Nina's own sets encompass her encyclopaedic knowledge and passion for forward-thinking dance music. Says Mixmag (Sep 9, 2104): "Nina Las Vegas.. is pushing perhaps the most forward-thinking music of the bunch.... She's got one of the most eclectic and up-to-date music tastes in the game."

Austin Party Weekend brings together Mad Decent, OWSLA, Stones Throw, Neon Gold, Dim Mak, IHEARTCOMIX, PC Music, Monstercat, IAMSOUND/Fiction, Biz 3, Fool's Gold, Check Yo Ponytail, Ham On Everything, Secret Songs and Nina Las Vegas Presents under one banner to create an event that is bigger than any one of them. Across two venues, the Empire Control Room & Garage and The Main (former Emo's).
