Heritage Woods of Benton, a BMA affordable assisted living community, will host a Fall Festival from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 10.

The community, which is located at 1305 Bailey Lane in Benton, Illinois, serves older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid, who need some help to maintain their independence.

Live entertainment will be provided by the Misty Mountain Band, a local group that plays soft rock, country and oldies.

Chili, hot dogs, pumpkin bars and other treats will be served. Children will receive a pumpkin and pads of stickers during the free event.

Bakers are encouraged to enter the community's pie baking contest. Judges will be tasked with choosing the best fruit and non-fruit pies during the festival.

"Don't miss the fun. We have a fun-filled day planned to welcome fall at Heritage Woods," said Johnny Younger, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Benton.

Heritage Woods is the only affordable assisted living community in Franklin County. The community is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program and is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

"We provide older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home," says Younger.

The community combines residential apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance, help with medications, and a variety of convenience and support services.

Residents live in private apartments that include a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, individually-controlled heating and air conditioning, and an emergency alert system.

Certified nursing assistants, working under the direction of a licensed nurse, are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Meals, housekeeping and laundry are among the included services.

"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in activities and special programs," says Younger.

Based in Bradley, Illinois, BMA Management operates 38 assisted living, senior living and memory care communities that together house nearly 3,800 apartments.

"Our focus," says Rod Burkett, President and CEO of BMA Management, "is to provide residents with the love, compassion and dignity they deserve and the help and assistance that they need. Our emphasis is on helping each resident at Heritage Woods of Benton achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible."

Communities managed by BMA include the Prairie Living affordable assisted living community in Carbondale, Illinois; the Heritage Woods affordable assisted living communities in Flora, McLeansboro and Mt. Vernon; and the Cambridge House affordable assisted living communities in the Metro East area of St. Louis.

BMA also operates Heritage Woods in Centralia, Illinois. The community features affordable assisted living apartments, senior living apartments, and rental homes for low-income adults 55 and older.
