The White House Correspondents' Association just held its Centennial dinner on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
Founded in 1914 to represent the White House press corps, the association marks its centennial this year. It works to maintain independent news media coverage of the president, advocating for access, handling logistics for pools of reporters who stay close to the president and those who travel with him, and providing scholarships to journalism students.

The annual dinner is traditionally attended by the President and First Lady as well as many other senior government officials and members of the press corps.

The annual dinner raises money for WHCA SCHOLARSHIPS and Honor the professional recipients of the WHCA's JOURNALISM AWARDS. The 2014 WHCA dinner was held on May 3, 2014. Proceeds from the White House Correspondents' Association annual dinner go toward scholarships and awards that recognize aspiring and accomplished journalists. Auctions and raffles of WHCA dinner tickets designed to raise money for other organizations or for commercial purposes are against the policy of the WHCA.
