Blue13 Dance Company and the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena celebrate National Dance Day with a fundraiser, "INDIAN SUMMER," at the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena, 496 South Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – Midnight, an Outdoor and Indoor Festival including a Bollywood Bazaar, a Bollywood Bhangra Dance Party and performances throughout the day and night by Blue13 Dance Company, Trey Rich, Jamie Gregor, Marie Poppins, Francisco Martinez, MnR Dance Factory, Daniel Coffman, Prince Andrew, Jacob Jonas & Jill Wilson, Shiva Ware, and Chris "cj3" Rutledge. Live music will be provided by Suvah Entertainment. A portion of the proceeds from the day will benefit The National Kidney Foundation, a charity close to Blue13 Dance Company Artistic Director, Achinta S. McDaniel's heart, having lost her sister to complications related to kidney disease in 2003.

The One Day Only Festival of Dance and Music will feature a family friendly Daytime Bollywood Bazaar from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Indian Food, Drinks, Henna, Vendors, Live Music and Mini-Dance Classes for All Levels in Bollywood, Bhangra, Jazz, Ballet, Zumba, Hip-Hop, Jazz Funk, Contemporary, Salsa and more! Mini-Dance Classes will be led by Achinta S. McDaniel, Artistic Director of Blue13 Dance Company, along with members of her company and dance instructors from the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena.

In the evening, from 7:00 p.m. – Midnight, a Bollywood Bhangra Dance Party will be held featuring a Bar, Hookah Lounge, Food and an Outdoor Dance Floor with the sounds of the city's best Indian music disc jockeys, including DJ Sukh, Tej Gill, Ben-G, DJ Scorpio and Live Beats by Dhol Nation's Malinder Tooray.

Food will be provided by No Tomatoes Indian Food Truck, with Wine provided by LXV Wines and Energy Drink provided by Zenify Energy Drink. Henna designs and tattoos by Henna Crone, and Hookah Lounge (night time only for 18+) provided by Cloud Hookah.

Led by Achinta S. McDaniel as Artistic Director, Blue13 Dance Company (Blue13) is dedicated of the advancement of experimental and non-traditional contemporary dance while preserving and cultivating the cultural and classical forms of India. Blue13 collaborates with diverse, multi-genre performing artists to continually evolve and explore new repertoire that encompasses contemporary dance with an Eastern sensibility. The ensemble has performed critically acclaimed works all over the U.S., in Europe and North Africa, and have worked with renowned artists including: Timbaland, Dustin Hoffman, Anupam Kher, director Todd Haynes, Boman Irani, Manasi Scott and legendary songstress, Kavita Krishnamurthy. Blue13 has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Royce Hall, The Levitt Pavilion of Pasadena, The Broad Stage and Symphony Space in New York City, as well as in Morocco, Paris and Geneva. The dance company has been featured in film and on television extensively as well, most recently with choreography featured on CBS' The Amazing Race.

Dance education and outreach are also central to Blue13's mission. Teaching artists of Blue13 instruct weekly classes at many studios around the Los Angeles area, and work as guest choreographers and instructors in local schools. Blue13 is renowned for its free public programming of interactive dance events in Indian style, working with the County of Los Angeles, The Music Center and many area cultural institutions to share the art with the public. Blue13 is the company in residence at the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena, performing, teaching, and holding special events and workshops at the space throughout the season. Dance Conservatory of Pasadena (DCP) is based on a variety of classical techniques that combine discipline with the nurturing of a healthy dancer.
