The New York Times reports that Robert Fairchild, who received a Tony nomination for his role in Broadway's An American in Paris, will return to Lincoln Center's New York City Ballet this fall for three "Broadway-flavored" performances.
On September 30th, Fairchild will appear in City Ballet's Fall Fashion Gala in a revival of Peter Martins's "Thou Swell," choreographed to music by Richard Rodgers. The performance will feature Broadway's Norm Lewis and Rebecca Luker along with City Ballet dancers. The appearance will mark his first City Ballet performance since making his Broadway debut in the role of Jerry Mulligan in the hit Broadway musical. Later this fall, Fairchild will appear in two additonal performances, George Balanchine's "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. and on Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Despite these additions to his schedule, he will continue performing in An American in Paris.The company shared that it remains uncertain when Mr. Fairchild would leave the Broadway production and return full time to City Ballet.
Fairchild was nominated for the 2015 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. He is a member of NYCB, where he has been enjoying his status a s principal dancer for the past 5 years.
