'Three Lost Chords' Solo Operas by Horne at Zipper Jan. 7 & 9
The Zipper Factory Theater (336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) will present two special "first look" presentations of Three Lost Chords, a trio of solo operas with music by Lance Horne (Songs From An Unmade Bed) and libretto by Mark Campbell (Drama Desk nominee for Splendora), directed by David Schweizer (The Mines of Sulfur at New York City Opera, Songs From An Unmade Bed at NYTW) on Monday, January 7 at 8PM and Wednesday, January 9 at 9PM.
A triptych of musical ghost stories, Three Lost Chords features three young stars from the worlds of both modern and classical opera and musical theater: Nathan Lee Graham (The Wild Party on Broadway), tenor Michael Slattery and soprano Caroline Worra.
The Zipper is proud to host these two special presentations of this work in progress - three musical monologues adapted from three short stories: Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, Nicolai Gogol's A Hunger Artist and Dame Muriel Spark's The Girl I Left Behind Me. Each character must musically confess the strange circumstances that brought them to a place from which they cannot escape: an asylum, a panther's cage in a traveling circus, and the ominous office of a small company. By turns macabre, humorous, and oddly sensuous, Three Lost Chords propels its characters through the dark twists and turns of their surprising lives…and deaths.
