As the holiday season is upon us, thoughts turn to jingle bells, colored lights, giving gifts, long lines at retail outlets, crass commercialization of the holidays and the Midtown International Theatre Festival.

That's right, it's time to send in your scripts for consideration for the MITF's sixth straight offerings of the weird and the wacky, the classical and the innovative, and the intimate and the spectacular - in short just about any interesting theatrical project that you think deserves to be seen on the New York stage.

Over the past five years, the MITF has presented works from all genres, including musicals, dance pieces, dramas, comedies, one-person vehicles and classical works, and hopes to continue that tradition this year.

"I don't have any hard and fast rules when it comes to the type of projects we put on," noted John Chatterton, executive director of the MITF. "I only care that it's a work of quality, with quality people behind it (no egos, please), and of course that it can work in a festival environment."

The Sixth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival will be presented from July 18, 2005 - August 7, 2005 at two separate spaces at the WorkShop Theatre, located at 312 West 46th Street; and at the Where Eagles Dare Theatre, at 347 West 46th Street, located just up the block from the WorkShop Theatre.

All scripts MUST be accompanied by a Festival application form, which can be downloaded from the Midtown Festival website, located at www.midtownfestival.org. Scripts and completed applications should be sent to:

John Chatterton
Midtown International Theatre Festival
347 West 36th Street, 12th Floor
New York, NY 10018

The script deadline for MITF6 is February 21, 2005. All entries must be postmarked by that date.

We look forward to seeing your scripts and welcome your help in making MITF6 the best Midtown International Theatre Festival thus far!
