The Subversive Theatre Collective Closes A TRIBUTE TO ORWELL'S DYSTOPIA, 1/31
The Subversive Theatre Collective presents the world debut of 84: A Tribute to Orwell's Dystopia, as conceived of and directed by Brian Zybala, at the Many Fried Playhouse in January of 2010.
Taking George Orwell's prophetic dystopian masterpiece into the Twenty-First Century, 84 is a totally unique blending of traditional theatre with multi-media wizardry and interpretive movement techniques to produce a unique dramatic experience.
Complete with Thought-Police, Big Brother, and the Two-Minute Hate, this production of 84 offers audiences a stunning assault on both the mind and the senses as the hapless characters of this not-too-far-in-the-future world struggle for love and freedom of thought against a monolithic technological dictatorship.
84 features a cast including Andrew Kottler, Rebecca Ward, Natalie Mack, Thomas Scahill, David Butterfield, Jenna Winnett, Tamara Hopersberger, Hanna Lipkind, Mary Boatman, and Michael O'Hear in addition to video and voiceover work by Saul Elkin and Gerald Finnegan. Set Design is by Dyan O'Connell, with Lighting Design by Carlie Todoro-Rickus, Sound Design by John "Lazlo" Shotwell, Costume Design by Bryan Patrick Stoyle, Movement Choreography by Monica Karwan, and Videography by Brian Milbrand and Holly Johnson.
Tickets are $15 general admission or $10 for students, seniors and Subversive Theatre Members. For all Thursday performances, admission is pay-what-you-can. Reservations are not available, seating is on a first-come-first-served basis with doors opening one half hour prior to each performance.
