Blackfriars Theatre Presents ORDINARY DAYS

Ordinary Days by Adam Gwon tells the story of four New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they hunt for happiness, fulfillment, love, and the nearest Starbucks. The vibrant, contemporary-pop score is chock-full of memorable songs, which weave audiences through a host of vignettes: getting lost in an art gallery, boyfriends buying the wrong wine, and fast-approaching deadlines. The story's heart comes from its humor and relatability, with a celebration of how 8.3 million individual stories come together in unexpected ways to make New York City such a unique and extraordinary home.

Ordinary Days will run at Blackfriars Theatre from February 1st - 17th. Composer Adam Gwon is a promising up-and-comer in the music theater world, named one of "50 to Watch" by The Dramatist magazine. The New York Times writes that Ordinary Days "...captures with stinging clarity that uneasy moment in youth when doubts begin to cloud hopes for a future of unlimited possibility." The Blackfriars production capitalizes on this by touting a strong cast of local favorites, and a Director, Lindsay Warren Baker, whose work in this style of theater has been showcased widely around town.

"Ordinary Days is an intimate look into the lives of four unique individuals who are each at a personal crossroads," notes Warren Baker. "One of the unique aspects about the musical is that the setting - New York City - is as important as the characters Claire, Jason, Deb, and Warren are. Our challenge is to show how these four people relate not only to each other, but with the city. Regardless of whether or not one has personal experience with the city, audiences can still relate to the play's themes: searching for connection, making peace with the past, and belonging - to name a few. Rochester is in for a production full of humor and heart."

The Ordinary Days cast includes: Hector Ortiz (Warren); Colin Pazik (Jason); Kit Prelewitz (Deb); Emily Putnam (Claire) with Musical Direction by Andy Pratt
