Kyoung's Pacific Beat Announces New Leadership Council

By:

Kyong's Pacific Beat (KPB) is pleased to announce the formation of its new Leadership Council. The KPB Leadership Council was established to advise and assist the Brooklyn based theater company's artistic and executive directors as they transition Kyoung's Pacific Beat from an emerging to a more established and sustainable organization.

Since the company was formed in 2011, Kyoung H. Park, its founder and artistic director, had received individual advisement and assistance from experts in the arts community and other business sectors, which has been vital to its growth. With the creation of the Leadership Council, the theater company formalizes the advisor's relationships to Kyoung's Pacific Beat and embarks on a more strategic approach to its work.

The eight-member Leadership Council* includes Daniel K. Isaac (Kyoung's Pacific Beat's TALA, PILLOWTALK, Showtime's BILLIONS), Daniel Lim (Diversity and Social Justice Trainer), Laurence Pagnoni (Chairman, LAPA), Keryn Redstone, (Human Rights Advocate), Jason Tseng, (Community Engagement Specialist, Fractured Atlas), and Tiffany Vega (General Manager, Hi-ARTS/Hip-Hop Theater Festival).

The KPB Leadership Council will convene and engage at a strategic retreat in October 2016.

About Kyoung's Pacific Beat:
Kyoung's Pacific Beat was founded in 2011 by playwright and director Kyoung H. Park, the first Korean playwright from Latin America to be produced and published in the United States. He established the company as a collaborative, multi-disciplinary company that serves as a laboratory for the invention of devised theater; a producing organization that mounts peacemaking theater productions; and one that facilitates public programming which engages communities in the pursuit of peace through artistic expression.

Since it's founding, Kyoung's Pacific Beat has produced disOriented ("Kyoung's most intensely personal play," American Theater Magazine, Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 42nd Street,) TALA (Time Out Critic's Pick, Performance Project @ University Settlement), and produced a sold-out, workshop production of PILLOWTALK this past September as Artist-in-Residence at BRIC House, in Brooklyn, NY.

Kyoung's Pacific Beat's mission is to promote a culture of peace through the production of new works of theater. The company is led by Kyoung H. Park, Founder and Artistic Director, and Rachel DeGuzman, Executive Director, and its leadership is part of The Field's inaugural Field Leadership Fund Fellowship program.

*Two KPB Leadership Council members choose to remain anonymous.
