Westport Extends 'Christmas Carol' Offer to Bway Patrons

By:

Westport Country Playhouse is not affected by the Broadway stagehands' union strike and invites all audiences to its production of A Christmas Carol.

In an effort to offset the strike's impact on holiday theatre-goers, Westport Country Playhouse is making a special offer to patrons who have tickets for a Broadway show affected by the strike.  Patrons may bring their Broadway show tickets to the Playhouse box office and receive $10 off their purchase of tickets to A Christmas Carol, playing November 23 through December 29.

Patrons should keep their Broadway tickets and return/exchange them as appropriate per the point of purchase.

Westport Country Playhouse's song-filled adaptation of Charles Dickens' holiday classic A Christmas Carol is a dynamic, annual family event for ages six and up, adapted and directed by Thompson.

"A Christmas Carol brings to the stage miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, the curmudgeon everyone loves to hate, the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, the festive Fezziwigs, and the darling Cratchit family with the ever-hopeful Tiny Tim," explain press notes.  Part ghost story and part celebration, "A Christmas Carol" includes seasonal music, ranging from haunting to jubilant, such as "The Holly and the Ivy," "Carol of the Bells," "Here We Come A-Wassailing," "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," "In The Bleak Midwinter," "The Coventry Carol" and "Heigh-Ho the Holly," plus 20 other period songs all sung live by the ensemble.

The cast is comprised of professional Equity actors, many of whom have appeared on Broadway, as well as talents from neighboring towns, including children age six and up.

Performance times for A Christmas Carol are selected Wednesdays at 7 p.m.; selected Thursdays at 2 and 7 p.m.; Fridays at 7 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays at 1 and 5:30 p.m.; and Christmas Eve at 11 a.m. Ticket prices: $25, $35, $48. Groups of 10 or more save up to 30% off the regular ticket price.  For group sales information call (203) 227-5137, x120.

For more information or reservations, call the box office at (203) 227-4177, or toll-free at 1-888-927-7529, or visit the box office at 25 Powers Court, off Route 1, Westport. Information about the Playhouse is also available at www.westportplayhouse.org.
