Vineyard Arts Project, a nonprofit performing arts residency center on Martha's Vineyard, has announced the cast and creative team of Flying Over Sunset, a new musical to be developed in residence in August.

Flying Over Sunset will be presented in a developmental workshop under the guidance of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright James Lapine (Into The Woods). Written and directed by James Lapine, Flying Over Sunset will feature music by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by Michael Korie (Grey Gardens). The cast includes Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens), Tam Mutu (Doctor Zhivago), Boyd Gaines (Journey's End), David Turner (Sunday in the Park with George), Julia Murney (The Wild Party), Jenni Barber (Wicked), and Jennifer Sanchez (Ghost the Musical).

About "Flying Over Sunset":

Los Angeles, the mid-1950s. The unregulated drug LSD is being prescribed by the psychiatric community of Beverly Hills as a therapeutic tool for some of their most celebrated clients. Clients include iconic American film star Cary Grant; tortured screenwriter & playwright Clare Booth Luce; and Aldus Huxley, distinguished author of Brave New World. Together in the new musical Flying Over Sunset, these characters embark on a journey of self-awareness as they come together in an LSD salon hosted by the ever-ambitious Clare Booth Luce (Ebersole). Their "trip" is at times hilarious, magical, sexual, profound, scary - and true, based as it is on factual accounts of the era.
