PHONE WHORE to Play Somerville Theatre, 1/30-31

By:

Truth and taboo collide in this intimate visit with a phone sex operator. Listen closely: she may change your views on sex forever.

After five years of international touring, Cameryn Moore's award-winning solo play Phone Whore returns to the Boston area for two shows only, January 30-31, at the Somerville Theatre, 55 Davis Square, Somerville. The show starts at 8pm (no latecomers), with doors opening at 7:45. After the show, audiences are invited to stay for a Q&A session with the writer and artist. Admission is $15 at the door.

A slice-of-life comedy/drama, Phone Whore won the Critics' Choice award at the 2013 Houston Fringe Festival, the award for Best Female Solo show at the 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival, Pick of the Fringe - Drama at the 2011 Victoria Fringe Festival, and was an official selection of the 2012 Zoofest Festival in Montréal. The play invites audiences in for an unflinching look at taboo, fantasy, and the place of "deviant" desires in society today.

Cameryn Moore is an playwright/performer, activist, educator, and yes, a phone sex operator. She has done phone work for nearly six years, writing and rehearsing between calls and even taking calls while on tour. In addition to awards for Phone Whore, Cameryn received a Best of Fest award at the 2011 Winnipeg Fringe Festival for her second show, slut (r)evolution. She has performed to packed houses in Edinburgh Fringe, London, Boston, Vancouver, Atlanta, and 39 other cities around North America and the UK.

This five-year-anniversary presentation of Phone Whore kicks off Cameryn's 2015 world tour, which is a fiscally sponsored project of the International Sex Workers Foundation for Arts, Culture, and Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Tour details, show updates, and some very dirty, thoughtful blog posts can be found online at www.camerynmoore.com.
