New Repertory Theatre Presents THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND, Closes 7/31

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is pleased to announce The World Goes ‘Round, the award-winning musical revue of Kander and Ebb, as its 2011 Summer Show. The World Goes ‘Round closes July 31, 2011. 

"After concluding a terrific season, we are excited to be able to continue to provide the Greater Boston theatre community with an entertaining and stimulating summer production," says Kate Warner, New Rep's Artistic Director.

Warner continues, "The songs of Kander and Ebb are poignant and everlasting. Whether it's the catchy, jazzy tune ‘Mr. Cellophane,' the powerful and moving song ‘Maybe This Time,' or the witty upbeat melody ‘The Grass is Always Greener,' audience members will be amused by these familiar tunes, impressive choreography, and talented cast. The World Goes ‘Round will be the must-see musical this summer."

The World Goes ‘Round will be directed by Kate Warner and musically directed by Todd C. Gordon. The cast features New Rep favorites: Leigh Barrett (Indulgences, Dessa Rose, Side by Side, Ragtime, Into the Woods, and The Threepenny Opera) and Aimee Doherty (The Last Five Years, Darling Divas Deck the Holidays, Hot Mikado, Speed-the-Plow, Cabaret, tick, tick... BOOM!, The Wild Party, Ragtime, and Into the Woods).

The World Goes ‘Round is a winner of 3 Drama Desk Awards. Conceived by Scott Ellis, Susan Stroman, and David Thompson. Lyrics by Fred Ebb. Music by John Kander.

Enter the world of distinguished and celebrated writing team Kander and Ebb. In this outstanding retrospective of their work, your favorite songs such as "Mr. Cellophane," "Maybe This Time," "Cabaret," and "New York, New York" are seamlessly interwoven into a passionate, harmonious, up-tempo evening of musical theatre.

New Repertory Theatre presents provocative and intelligent works of both established and emerging playwrights in an intimate setting that involves and engages the audience. New Rep has earned a reputation for Dynamic Productions that honor the writers and feature talented professional actors from the New England Theatre community as well as guest artists from around the U.S. New Rep has received Elliot Norton and IRNE Awards for outstanding acting, scenic design, directions, and production. Programming for New Repertory Theatre is supported in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
