Multicultural Arts Center to Postpone Yarumi González Residency Showcase
The multidisciplinary showcase explores identity, migration, and the American Dream through movement, video, and installation.
The Multicultural Arts Center has made the decision to postpone Yarumi González's Artist in Residence Showcase. Originally scheduled for September 17, the new date will be October 7, 2026 at 7:30pm.
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, Yarumi and those close to her have been navigating circumstances that require time, care, and space.
At MAC, supporting an artist means supporting the whole person, not simply the work they bring to our stage. Our Artist in Residence program is rooted in giving artists the freedom and space to explore, create, and respond to the world around them. Sometimes, honoring that mission also means knowing when to make room for life.
ABOUT YARUMI GONZÁLEZ AND THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SHOWCASE
The Artist in Residence Showcase celebrates the culmination of MAC's residency program, highlighting works developed through sustained artistic exploration and experimentation. Rather than focusing solely on finished pieces, the showcase invites audiences into the creative process, offering a glimpse into evolving ideas and artistic discovery. During Yarumi González's residency, they will continue developing a multidisciplinary, autobiographical work exploring identity, migration, and the American Dream through poetic and ritual-inspired storytelling, movement, video, photography, installation, and performance.
ABOUT THE MULTICULTURAL ARTS CENTER
The Multicultural Arts Center is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion through the performing and visual arts. Located in East Cambridge, the Center provides a platform for underrepresented artists, hosts community-driven programming, and creates space for meaningful dialogue and artistic collaboration.
