LTFR Presents OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY 6/17-27

By:

The Little Theatre of Fall River opens its annual Firebarn subscription series with the drama Other People's Money. The show runs June 17 and 27, Thursday through Sunday. All performances are at the Firebarn, Little Theatre's home, at the corner of Prospect Street and Highland Avenue in Fall River.

In this compelling comedy-drama, "Larry the Liquidator" is always looking for the next big score. He puts his sights on New England Wire and Cable, a publicly traded company that is a major employer in a small Rhode Island town. Trying to stave off the hostile takeover, the company's owner hires Kate Sullivan, daughter of his long-time assistant and confidant, as the attorney for the firm; and a complicated game of cat-and-mouse ensues between Kate and Larry, with each struggling to maintain the upper hand. As Larry closes in on his goal to acquire and then sell off the Wire and Cable division, he is forced to decide which he lusts after more: money or Kate.

Other People's Money features Roger Allen, Ellen Barnes, Robert Duquette, Pamela Morgan and Michael McGill. The original production was an off-Broadway hit that was made into a feature film in 1991 starring Danny DeVito.

The production is directed by Stephen R. Kay, with Kathy Castro as stage manager. Bette Johnson is in charge of props. Single tickets are $16. Discounts are available for students and seniors. The play contains adult language and themes. Running time is 2 hours, plus a 15-minute intermission. For reservations and information, call the Little Theatre box office at (508) 675-1852 or check out the website at www.littletheatre.net .
