Debbie Reynolds to Appear in Concert April 20-22

The unsinkable Debbie Reynolds, an "A List," classic star of the highest magnitude, brings her concert act to Waltham's Robinson Theatre April 20 through 22. In three performances only, Ms. Reynolds will entertain audiences with music, comedy, impressions, filmed segments of her great Hollywood years and delightful reminiscences of her films and career.

America's perennial sweetheart and fresh-faced girl-next-door, Reynolds sang and danced her way to stardom in the rain, alongside luminous sidekicks Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. Decked out in a canary yellow rain slicker and hat beneath a black umbrella, she made such a splash in MGM's Singin' in the Rain that studio moguls sat up and paid attention to the new kid on the block.

Ironically, water has been a key element in some of her great film successes. She was unsinkable as the plucky "never-say-die-ain't-down-yet" Molly Brown. She charmed movie goers as Molly, a backwoods waif who overcame poverty and even titanic disasters in her ascent to the top rung of the Denver social ladder. She earned an Oscar nod for her portrayal of the title character in Meredith Wilson's rags-to-riches, lavish period musical, The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Reynolds starred in more than forty key film roles. Her performances brought her a Best Actress Oscar nomination, multiple Golden Globe nominations, three time Photoplay Awards for Most Popular Female Star, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals "Woman of the Year" Award and other distinguished show business accolades.

Inspired, perhaps, by her Harvard Hasty Pudding Club honor, Reynolds later went on to star on Broadway in the musical version of the film classic Woman of the Year. She also met with great success and critical reception in her hit Broadway musical, Irene. That performance brought her a coveted Broadway Best Actress Tony nomination and won her the Outer Critic's Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Major tours have included stage versions of Annie Get Your Gun and her signature success, The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Beyond film and Broadway, the grand stages of Las Vegas have been frequent venues for her throughout the years. Additionally, she has appeared at the famed London Palladium and has taken her concert act to every major U.S. city, touring an average of 42 weeks a year both here and abroad.

She starred in her own television series. Numerous other television appearances throughout her career earned Reynolds several Emmy nominations. Most recently she  appeared in a semi-recurring role in the popular hit sitcom Will and Grace.

Reynolds' film co-stars read like a Hollywood Who's Who.
