Closed after only four performances last summer by a devastating fire, the North Shore Music Theatre's highly acclaimed production of "Cinderella" returns to Beverly, Massachusetts August 22 through September 10. Directed this time by Charles Repole, the newly envisioned Rodgers and Hammerstein musical promises to deliver even more surprises and special effects than last year now that it will be staged in the beautifully refurbished theater in the round.

Deborah Lew, most recently seen in the Broadway revival of "The Threepenny Opera" at Studio 54, will don the title character's infamous glass slippers. Ryan Silverman will be her dashing Prince Charming. Maureen Brennan will play the Fairy Godmother; Lisa McMillan the evil Stepmother; Joyce Chittick and Natalie Joy Johnson the two spoiled stepsisters Joy and Portia; and Terry Burrell and David Coffee the befuddled Queen and King.

"Cinderella" follows hot on the heels of North Shore's spectacular production of "Singin' in the Rain." While a marvelously manufactured downpour at the close of Act I threatened to steal the actors' thunder, cast members Matt Loehr, Kelly D. Felthous, Mark Ledbetter, Beth Beyer et al executed director/choreographer Richard Stafford's animated antics so expertly that even Mother Nature had to applaud.

Press notes for "Cinderella" promise the same high caliber technical achievements and performances. Tickets can be ordered by phone at 978-232-7200 or online at www.nsmt.org. Senior and youth discounts and rush tickets are available.
