Blizzard Pushes Huntington's THE SECOND GIRL Opening to Friday

Due to the incoming blizzard and state of emergency, the Tuesday, January 27 performances of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE and THE SECOND GIRL have been cancelled.

To reschedule your tickets, call 617 266 0800 or email tickets@huntingtontheatre.org. The Huntington Box Office is open Monday until 6pm. The theater will not be open Tuesday, but Box Office staff will be monitoring and responding to messages remotely.

Presently, Huntington intends to resume performances on Wednesday, January 28 at 2pm and will post any additional updates on their website and to the performance calendar as soon as information is available. The official press opening for THE SECOND GIRL is now slated for Friday, January 30 at 8pm.

In the wickedly wonderful Chekhovian mashup VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, from master of comedy Christopher Durang (Betty's Summer Vacation), Vanya and Sonia's quiet, bucolic life is hilariously upended when their glamorous movie star sister arrives for the weekend with her brawny boy toy in tow. A Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation, this rollicking and touching new comedy pays loving homage to Chekhov's classic themes of loss and longing.

With Eugene O'Neill's classic Long Day's Journey into Night as a backdrop, THE SECOND GIRL is set in the downstairs world of the Tyrone family kitchen in August 1912. Two Irish immigrant servant girls and the chauffeur search for love, success, and a sense of belonging in their new world in this lyrical and poignant world premiere by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Ronan Noone (Brendan, The Atheist) and directed by Campbell Scott (The Atheist). The Second Girl is the recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award.
