The Boston Theater Critics Association (BTCA), which presents the annual Elliot Norton Awards ceremony set for Monday May 21, 2012 at the Paramount Mainstage, announces its 2011-2012 elected officers. Joyce Kulhawik was elected President, a post held by the late Caldwell Titcomb, with Iris Fanger (GateHouse Media, Christian Science Monitor) serving as Treasurer and Carolyn Clay (Boston Phoenix) serving as Secretary/Clerk.

The BTCA also elected Nick Dussault as a new member to the selection committee. Dussault has been an entertainment writer and the chief theater critic for Boston Metro for the past 10 years. Prior to that, Nick was a city editor for AOL's Entertainment Websites (Digital City) in Chicago, Tampa and Boston.

Continuing BTCA members include Don Aucoin (Boston Globe), Jared Bowen (WGBH), Terry Byrne (Boston Globe/WGBH), Sandy MacDonald (TheaterMania), Robert Nesti(EdgeMedia Networks), Jenna Scherer (Boston Herald) and Ed Siegel (WBUR).

Joyce Kulhawik is best known as the Emmy Award-winning arts and entertainment critic for CBS-Boston (WBZ-TV 1981-2008). Joyce has recently launched her new website http://www.joyceschoices.com and is currently lending her expertise as an arts advocate and cancer crusader all over the region. Joyce has covered local and national events from Boston and Broadway to Hollywood. She co-hosted the nationally syndicated movie-review show "Hot Ticket," with Leonard Maltin, and was a continuing co-host on "Roger Ebert & The Movies." Joyce has regularly reported live from the red carpet at the Oscars, the Grammys, and the Emmys, and at major news events including Princess Diana's funeral in London and ground zero in NYC in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

Joyce has been a member of the BTCA since Elliot Norton invited her to join the committee in 1991. Jumping right into her new role Joyce says, "I am excited and absolutely honored to be President of The Boston Theater Critics Association which has an illustrious lineage, and deep roots in one of the most extraordinarily talented and resilient theater communities in the country. Boston is a world-class destination for arts and culture--- just look around-- and it's getting better every year despite the economy. Our goal this year-- the 30th Anniversary of the Elliot Norton Awards -- is to gather as much support and attention as our theater community deserves. We welcome all theater fans, arts patrons, and new partners/sponsors to join us in supporting the amazing Greater Boston Theater community as we celebrate this milestone!"

The Elliot Norton Awards are named for Mr. Norton who remained an active supporter of the dramatic arts until his death in 2003 at the age of 100. For 48 years Mr. Norton was a drama critic for Boston newspapers and concurrently from 1958 to 1982, he was moderator of Elliot Norton Reviews on WGBH television. The Elliot Norton Awards annually recognize outstanding achievement in the greater Boston theater community.
