About Cape Rep's world premiere production of Boundless

Boundless is a new play with music that explores how locAl Fishermen navigate the rough waters of politics, science, economics and tradition to survive in today's world. Created from interviews with Cape Cod fishermen, their families and the organizations that keep them fishing, Boundless takes us into the heart of their story.

Cape Rep company member Alison Weller, writer of Boundless, was most recently seen in the 2017 productions of Men on Boats and Billy Elliot the Musical. She has collaborated with composer Peter Hodgson, who musically directed Billy Elliot the Musical, on the original music for the show. Art Devine, Cape Rep playwright, director and actor, directs with scenic design by Phil Kong (2017 Cape Rep credits include lighting design for A New Brain and Men on Boats), lighting design by Susan Nicholson (Regular Singing, Billy Elliot the Musical) and costumes by Robin McLaughlin (Men on Boats, Billy Elliot the Musical). Projection designer, Lisa Renkel joins the production team adding a new aspect of theatrical design to the collaborative team.

Art Devine has assembled a wonderful ensemble of actors featuring Stephen Russell, McNeely Myers, Tom Andrew, Marty Brent, Jessica Georges and Paul Schuyler who will be accompanied by an on-stage band.

Because Boundless is a play about our community, Cape Rep will be surrounding the run of the show with talkbacks related to the creation of the piece and the people from the local fishing community. Details about these talkbacks can be found on their website as more information becomes available.

Cape Rep's 2017 season is made possible with the generous support of Cape Air and Preston Scott Cohen, Architect. Boundless is sponsored by Cove Road Real Estate and was written with support from the Cape Cod Foundation, Mass Humanities, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and the Brewster Cultural Council.

Cape Rep's 2017 Indoor Theater season opened with Richard Nelson's Regular Singing May 4 - June 4, followed by Jaclyn Backhaus' ingenious comedy, Men On Boats June 22 - July 22. Next up was the ten-time Tony-winning musical, Billy Elliot the Musical, music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, August 2-27, followed by William Finn and James Lapine's imaginative musical comedy, A New Brain September 14 - October 15. The Outdoor Theater will include an original play written and directed by local theater artist Holly Erin McCarthy, The Epic Adventure of Lulu's Lemonade Stand, June 28 - August 31, and Pitter Patter Puppets, Mary Wilson's delightful interactive puppet show July 7 - August 22.
