ALICE IN WONDERLAND to Play Boston Center for the Arts

By:

"Suddenly a rabbit with pink eyes ran right by her. In another moment, down went Alice after it."

And just like that we're off. Follow Alice and the imaginary beasts as they dive headlong down the rabbit hole to present a seminal adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

Originally created by The Manhattan Project under the direction of André Gregory, this is an Alice for an anxious age - where unsettling shadows linger around every bend, and madness waits at the end of every path. Carroll's Alice novels are combined into a delightful yet startling tale that brings Alice face-to-face with the likes of the temperamental Red Queen, the eccentric Humpty Dumpty, the enigmatic White Knight, and a host of other unusual characters. Artistic Director Matthew Woods helms this familiar and fun, disquieting and strange production that remains as relevant to our own topsy-turvy times as it was when first presented in the 1970s.

An ensemble of imaginary beasts veterans (Michael Chodos, Cameron Cronin, Amy Meyer, Kiki Samko, and William Schuller) present an ever-shifting kaleidoscope of peculiar personas, aided by the imaginative and daring costumes of Cotton Talbot-Minkin and the ingenious lights of Christopher Bocchiaro. Join Boston's most inventive ensemble as they dive into this psychological take on one of our most beloved fairytales. Questions of identity and personal agency swirl with a ferocity that echoes Freud, Jung, Dali, and Kafka. Renowned for their onstage physical feats and unique production designs, ALICE IN WONDERLAND is not to be missed. So put on your fool's caps and join the beasts on their wild adventure in Wonderland! But take note: this darkly humorous production is not recommended for young children and parental discretion is advised.
