ACTS to Stage FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Next Month

By:

The Alexander Children's Theatre School (ACTS), in residence at the Umbrella Community Arts Center (40 Stow Street, Concord, MA), is pleased to announce that tickets are now on sale for their 2015 production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, which will run Friday, December 11 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, December 12 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 13 at 4:00 pm.

Fiddler on the Roof features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein. The original Broadway production was directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and produced by Harold Prince. ACTS' production will be directed by Sharon Bisantz, with choreography by Lenni Kmiec and music direction by Matt Stern and Brent Kincaid. Stephanie C. Mavrides is the Executive Producer.

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. This timeless, heartwarming, and beautiful musical received nine 1965 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and it is currently being revived on Broadway in a new production by director Bartlett Sher. Fiddler on the Roof boasts the classic songs "To Life! (L'Chaim)," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were A Rich Man," and "Tradition!"
