They were technically too old for their roles when the show premiered, and they're ten years older now.
Watch th emovie musicals, and watch American Idol. That's where you get your accurate casting pool today.
And speaking of casting pool and "people who always have to be in all of these things," that means we can expect Queen Latifah as Nehebka and Christopher Walken as Pharaoh.
"They won't keep the OBC. Name one successful movie musical in the last 20 years that kept the Broadway cast."
Rent was successful in my own mind.
kchenofan's computer is broken right now. This is her fridge. Now, you can leave a message, but say it slowly, so I can write it on a post-it note and stick it to myself.
Maybe from out of left field but what about making an animated AIDA. Would probably be the first time Disney took a live action musical and made it into an animated feature. I think it would translate very well. They could try the old fashioned hand drawn approach or maybe even explore the motion capture thing they've worked with J. Carrey on for Christmas Carol. In that event you COULD have the original broadway cast involved and age would be a non-issue.
Billy Ray Cirus as Zozer and shoot the whole thing like a 2 hour long music video staring Beyonce, and throw in one of the ex-child members like Michelle Willams as Nh-heb-whats-her-name that gets killed in Aida's place

Originally they did say it was to be Beyonce as Aida, and Christina Aguilara as Amneris.. and there WAS a rumor that since they had those stars in mind, that they were considering Pascal.. but nothing else ever came from it. I even surprised myself in being okay with the idea of Jessica Simpson as Amneris.. acting wise she'd be good honestly, even tho her voice may not be considered "strong"... I would however love Anika Noni Rose as Aida personally, they may still not consider her to have a big enough name to be the lead..
Sherie Rene Scott - Amneris Adam Pascal - Radames and Heather Headley- Aida
I mean, I guess I'm just a stickler for the originals, but I can say this, nobody (including Beyonce, whom I LOVE) can do Heather's voice justice as Aida. Beyonce will just out a bunch of runs in it and then it'll just ruin it for me.
The "original" rumour casting was Beyonce as Aida, and Christina Aguilara as Amneris, and Justin Timberlake (who I despise..but that's another story) as Radames
"Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. Have you guys heard about fidget spinners!?" ~Patti LuPone
yes youre right! And I honestly think that's good casting.. EXCEPT for Justin Timberlake as Radames, whom I also despise. I do think the idea of James Marsden as Radames is a good idea also.
Though her mainstream music doesn't do much to show it off, Lady Gaga has a pretty decent voice, as her "piano versions" of songs show off. True, they're sort of a parody of Christina Aguilera, but they're fairly impressive anyway.
Aguiera's the better star, but Gaga fits the part in her own weird way, with her obsession with kitsch glam and makeup as disguise being very similar to Amneris's own persona.
I think she's way too short, although I suppose that can be fixed on screen, pluss she almost always has that "I just peed in my panties" expression whenever she sings, or does anything else for that matter.
