Sorry if this is a dumb question, but roughly how much time generally passes between tickets going on sale for a show and discounts/rush policies being announced? I'm wondering it for this show, as well as upcoming things like Hair and Hedda. I really want to see this, but already spent full-price on WSS, ITH, and Wicked. Can't really justify throwing away that money if I find out shortly after that I could have used a discount (and this makes me realize - shows should totally have retroactive discounts - I bought my Pal Joey ticket without using/knowing about the discount and then called back five minutes later to apply it and had to fight tooth and nail to do so. That's just silly.)
And a note on the rumors: is that for real? I know there's no such thing as a REAL or legit rumor since that would sort of negate the meaning of rumor, but still - I would die to see Ambrose (though I've heard less of her than I have Bierko, who also excites me, and I'm not sure about her vocal range) as I have LOVED the crap out of her way back from Can't Hardly Wait.
I stand by what I said. $50 for the rear mezz at the Nederlander is a good price - and the producers of Guys and Dolls are not running a charity. They can't charge poverty levels for a ticket, at least not with an initial American Express on sale. If it's too much, wait for the inevitable discounts.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

Easy, Smaxie... no one was asking you to change your opinion.
I was just offering mine.
No one asked them to charge "poverty" levels for a ticket.
And trust me, its not too much for me, but that is not the point.
It might be too much for MANY other people, especially, when the country is in a recession. There are NUMEROUS shows out there with very high running costs, that make at least a few rows of the theatre inexpensive. ($25-$40, for example).
It's quite possible that Guys & Dolls might also offer a cheap ticket option, once their theatre is rebuilt from scratch. But it's not the type of thing to expect right now in an initial AMEX onsale.
