A few of my friends say I am a male version of a Judy/Liza Hybrid. I don't quite know how to take that...

I've been compared to a lighter Terrence Mann a few times. I have a strange and versatile voice, so I've never been compared to just one person a whole bunch.

I wish I sounded like Marc Kudisch!!

I've thought on this for years, and my own ponderings combined with the observations of others have led to a conclusion of Marni Nixon. Although obviously nowhere near as good.

The creepy thing is when I sing guy-songs in 'Singstar', I usually end up channeling Norbert Leo Butz, and I've received several compliments on my well-honed guy-voice. I feel like I'm letting the soprano side down... ;_;

It's funny, I said in my first post that people say I sound like Judy Kuhn. Well, my mom was reading over my shoulder and she asked who Judy Kuhn was, so I went and played a recording of her singing "I Dreamed A Dream," and my mom goes "... are you sure that's not you?"

Granted, it wasn't one of Judy's better performances...

My sister also thinks I sound exactly like one of the extras on the OBC recording of Les Miserables, but she can't remember which one.

I've been told I sound like idina Menzel a lot... but then again, it's a skill of mine. I can sing like: Idina Menzel, Linda Eder, Caissie Levy (in WIcked L.A.), and a bit of Julia Murney. And when I sing in my head voice, I sound a lot like Leslie Henstock... that animated sound.

But mostly Idina, since I have a higherish speaking voice and a natural high belt. And I sing along to her way too much than I should.

In my dreams I sing and look like Stephanie J. Block. In real life I sound like one of the flying monkeys in Wicked...LOL.

The weird thing about my voice is that it's almost all head voice-- my sister is an alto, and her head voice starts about six or seven notes higher than mine (she can only sing about two or three notes in head voice). I only have a few notes in chest voice-- and I can sing much lower and much higher than my sister-- but my head voice is more powerful than my sister's chest voice (though I think she's a better singer overall). I've never learned to belt, though... I'm still not entirely sure how one goes about doing that.

Schmerg, go to a reputable voice teacher that specializes in MT.

It depends on the style I sing
It varies from John Barrowman - Rob Evan or John Treacy Egan
I´d love to sound as Raul Esparza

You're lucky, Tateh! A powerful rock tenor is always useful. (And I adore John Treacy Egan, by the way... he doesn't get enough love on BWW.)

bwaylvsong-- I'm starting a new voice teacher soon. My previous voice teacher said that I didn't need to learn how to belt because I had a very strong head voice, but it was hurting my chances in some less-classical musicals.
