Emily's cabaret debut at Feinsteins was absolutely amazing. Really. :) My little review...(edited and clipped from my blog.)

Got there, settled in, got wine and chocolate cake...all was good. :) At 8:30, the lights dimmed and the announcement was made. YAY!!!

Emily came out in the long black slip dress thing with the black velvet piece over it. Very pretty. And/or sexy. Since that was the theme of the evening. Because the boyfriend told her after a concert (she said back in March) that she needed to sex it up more. She is friggin hysterical when she's talking. I will attempt a song list...but I didn't know all of the titles, so those are offset with question marks.

1. "Sister" (?) No, not the one that's normally a duet. Awesome opener. From the chords and stuff that led into it, it could have been about three songs she usually does. Or this one.

Two songs from Destry Rides Again...
2. "I Know Your Kind" ~ Very vampy. And great. In Emily's lower range.
3. "I Say Hello" ~ Also fantastic. Lower range.

4. "Here Comes the Ballad" ~ Amazing. Even better than in DC. (She's obviously been working on it at Alice's suggestion. HaHa.) "That's not really on the sexy side of the list is it?"

5. "You Can't Have My Heart" ~ Another one from DC that surpassed DC. Awesome. (Seriously, there wasn't one bad song...or note last night.)

6. "The Bald Song" (her words...not sure if it's the real title) ~ I guess this one's sexy and silly. Hysterical.

7. "The Madam Song" (again, Emily's titling of it)...or "The Filthiest Sondheim Song That I Know"...again Emily's words). Written for a movie. Very cute. Afterwards, she talked about how she thinks she has the qualities needed in a madam and joked that she was thinking about making a career change because she knows "a lot of cute chorus girls who could use the extra cash". I about freaked out thinking she was going into "Bus From Amarillo" ~ but no.

8. "I Wish That I Had Someone" (?) ~ Very nice. :) Another new one for me.

9. "Moonfall" (?) ~ Gorgeous. Slow and definitely sexy.

10. "Poor Unfortunate Souls" ~ Absolutely amazing!!!! This totally did not fit in with any of the rest of the evening and after the previous one was a HUGE musical whiplash. But she is so amazing at it, she is forgiven. EMILY SKINNER FOR URSULA NOW!!!!!!!!!!

11. "More Than You Know" ~ Another one that blew DC's version out of the water. Of course, she was on mic for it last night, so maybe I just heard her better. :) She said she wanted to take us all back home with her so when she was feeling rotten about herself we could all clap and make her feel good.

12. "Come Up And See Me Sometime" ~ This one's always awesome. "False ending" of the show.

13. "My Brother Lived in San Francisco" ~ I almost cried. Almost. I managed to hold it together though. She sings this so beautifully!!

It was about an hour, but it was so amazing!!!!

My friend and I had a chance to talk with her for a little while after the show. She said she hasn't fully decided what she's doing next week...so there may well be some different songs. Which would be cool. Though I could listen to this set again and be just as happy.

She definitely needs to do more of these cabaret things. She's excellent at them. :)
