Syesha will come in 3rd, and be stunt casted in something before the Idol tour is even over. The nice part about it is that I would really love that. Shall we begin guessing which show?

I can't believe Jason made it through....I SO thought he was GONE! Carly wasn't bad enough to be kicked off. Syesha in the bottom two? What are these people that voted thinking? Syesha rocked out with that song and I was so glad that somebody had the presence of mind to choose a song from Starlight Express.

I know I heard so many remarks from American Idol fans who thought that making them sing Broadway songs was just "not right" because they are pop singers and this is a pop singing contest. I heard all this "Lloyd Webber is out of their league, out of their element" stuff... BS! Lloyd Webber has written plenty of rock/pop type stuff that they could have used on the show to the singers' better advantage. Instead of choices like "Memory" and "Music of the night" (kids, leave the Phantom stuff to the professionals, preferably people with operatic voices), they could have done some great Joseph, Starlight and Beautiful Game stuff. Jason should have sung "There's me" from Starlight Express (a good ballad for a light high tenor). The two Davids would have been good for "Close every door" and "Any dream will do". Gethesemane would have been a little out of their league. If they wanted something a little more rock-style, and powerful and manly, I would have recommended the rebellious "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees" from "beautiful game". I kind of wished one of the girls (Brooke or Carly) had done "Our kind of love" from "Beautiful game". If they wanted a Phantom song, then maybe "Learn to lonely" from the movie. And Starlight has lots of good choices--Make up my heart, Only you, Pumping iron, etc....

I had to admit ALW has aged well. He looked pretty good. I had a lot of respect for him before this show and afterward I was even more impressed with him. He gave great advice and really seemed to like what he was doing. I don't think he had a lot of control over the way things went, but I think he had some very smart things to say. I really admired the way he handled the question last night about Brooke's performance and the mistake she made. He was very tactful and professional and did not rip her apart on national TV. He took into account that she is a young singer and he wanted to be encouraging and critiquing without being cruel. He didn't totally skirt the question or change the subject, but tried to be positive and remind people that everyone makes mistakes. Bravo to him!

"David C- he just sang it SO WELL. I mean, how many rockers have the vocal chops to pull off Music of The Night so well that they could legit be on Broadway?"

Hands down the funniest thing I've read all week.

By this point in the competition, I can only assume that the quality of the performances has taken on a lesser importance; the people who are inclined to vote have chosen their favorites, and will continue to vote for them no matter how well they actually perform. At any rate, that's the best explanation I can come up with for this week's bottom two.

Queen of the Night, I loved your post. Your suggestions for alternate song selections were spot on. And I was also impressed with ALW...at least judging by the "master class" footage, he was, by far, the most constructive mentor we've seen this season.
