Thanks for everyone's reviews on this show. I am interested to see this production myself, I want to see how it was interpreted. I personally have never seen a live production of it either, so that will be interesting too.
Random question though... does anyone know the previous experience of Li Jun Li? I know Liat's not a huge role or anything, but the show itself doesn't have a cast page information on their website.
korenglish - Playbill info for Li Jun Li (Liat) LCT: Debut. Other theatre: Miss Saigon (North American Tour). Romeo and Juliet (Pulse Ensemble Theatre). I'm Still Alive (The Public). NYCCC (Kennedy Center). Film: Sex and the City.

With all respect to the current cast, does anybody know who played Nellie Forbush in the last national tour (which starred Robert Goulet as Emile). I was very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the tour and I thought the lady who played Nellie was very good.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
Amanda Watkins played Nellie opposite Robert Goulet on tour.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I saw Kate Baldwin play Nellie in a regional theater production and thought she was awesome. I was kind of hoping this would be her big Broadway breakthrough role, but I loved Kelli.
