I didnt see that episode yet, but I love this show!

Joel McHale graduated from the University of Washington's Actor's Training Masters program, so I don't think he has a huge hatred towards actors and Broadway.
And you have to admit, 95% of the people/clips he makes fun of on The Soup truly do deserve it.
I love The Soup. Please, Joel is amazing. He makes everything funny, even when you think it is something so pathetic it shouldn't be. When he talked about the strike and having to see Wicked a fourth time, I loved it. This Xanadu clip just made me laugh even more.
Though, I never understand why they always show the movie theatre for Rent when they show Broadway theatres...
I saw the Xanadu Soup clip - I agree with those who labeled it "hilarious." Please, folks, that clip was ridiculous. It would be a shame not to find the humor in that.
I Tivo The Soup every week and LOVE Joel McHale! He makes fun of himself all the time, most notably when he showed fake scenes of himself reprising his role as "bank manager" in Spiderman III.
He "created" this character in the original movie in the bank robbery scene (he and Rosemary Harris hit the deck together). I don't think he had a single line. Anyway, he really expanded his role in the fake scenes and they were hilarious!!
Plus, you have to admit, Broadway acting rarely looks subtle enough for the camera!! How many commercials for Broadway shows make you cringe??
That was hysterical. I loved the thing he said about the strike on the previous show... "Listen people, if I don't get to see Wicked a FOURTH magical time, heads are gonna roll!!"
"I'm seeing the LuPone in Key West later this week. I'm hoping for great vocals and some sort of insane breakdown..." - BenjaminNicholas2
I think it was very cute (the Xanadu comment) and not meant to be insulting.
Joel McHale is no more obnoxious than any of the other former hosts of Talk Soup. Several of them have gone on to very successful film & TV careers, most notably Greg Kinnear, Hal Sparks and Aisha Tyler I didn't like any of them when they hosted the show. But I think they are all great now. It's the writers who are annoying. But that's their job.

Anyone else think Man-kini is kinda hot? Just me? Okay.

To people who hate his 'hosting', it's not really him hosting, he's an actor. I've seen him in few other things. He says what the writer's have wrote.
Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).
Man-kini just seems like the kinda loopy straight hipster guy you'd meet at a party who would be enthusiastically happy to make out with you after a couple of beers.

I love the Soup and Joel!! I thought it was a pretty funny segment. It's just supposed to poke fun at people, and that's all I saw it as. I was in the floor rolling when the "Phantom" came out with skates and said he got a role in "Xanadu":))
Did anyone else notice when they showed the pics of the theatres they showed a pic of what looked like to be where RENT was playing. But it was really The Ziegfeld Theatre where the movie was playing? Maybe it was just me....

jerseyboyschick2 -- I totally noticed that as well. Indeed, the bf and I were totally comatose in front of the tv until I saw that and lept off the couch to point it out. He rolled his eyes at me in that way he does everytime we are listening to the Sirius Broadway channel and I give him the complete history of every song played...I felt like a complete Broadway goober.
Back to the point...I thought it was a great segment!
