Hi,
My mom and I are going to be coming to NYC Dec. 13-16. This is the first trip was have done on our own. Usuaully we just go on bus trips but thought we could do it alone. I just have a few questions I was hoping to get some help with. First, I was wondering what the crowds were going to be like at this time of year? We have done a lot of the major touristy stuff but we would like to go to Natural History Museum, NY Aquarium, and a few other little things. Any suggestions??
Next question, I have already checked on tickets for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas show and are planning on seeing that. Now I am looking at maybe 2-3 other broadway shows to see. We haven't seen: The Color Purple, Jersey Boys, The Little Mermaid, Curtains, Mary Poppins, Rent, Spring Awakening, Young Frankenstein, Xanadu, Spelling Bee, Drowsy Chaperone, or Grease. What shows would I have luck getting tickets to once we got there at TKTS or the actual theaters? What shows do people recommend, or what shows do you think I can get decent seats to? We don't have to sit in the orchestra, but we don't want to be a mile away from the stage either. What is mezz. and balcony seating like for the shows I listed like?
I apologize for all of my questions but I know a lot of people in here live in the city or get to go a lot more frequently than me. I probably should have planned this a lot earlier this year but oh well. Any help that anyone could give to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well...considering that that is just about THE most likely week for a strike from the stagehands on Broadway, it's hard to say. But, assuming the shows are on, thats also one of the busiest weeks of the year for Broadway shows (hence why the stagehands may try to strike then.) Tourists are EVERYWHERE during the holidays and everything will be packed, but that doesn't mean yo can't have a great time. I always recommend shows that everyone hasn't seen or won't see. Shows like Curtains and Drowsy Chaperone and even The Color Purple would be at the top of my list in your case.

I hope you have a great time in the city!
