He hasn't even started yet.
How can you judge him already?

Well, I didn't want to write a huge bitchy and scathing review so I kept it pithy. He has a vocal range of about 3 notes, has caused them to rewrite all the harmonies to his songs to adapt to being several keys lower, and has no personality. I hope he improves, but by god I'll be watching the understudy board closely.

Clumsy, he started 8/10, yesterday. It's advertised as 8/14, but because he's a big star he gets a few unofficial days in the role to get used to it.

I was a huge *Nsync fan back in the day.

I would say Lance would probably be a better group/ensemble/choir singer than soloist. He's an uber deep bass. There was a reason why he only had like, one solo out of *Nsync's four albums--they just don't write pop/musical theatre solos for low basses.

I was optimistic too.
I'm not sure he'd be a good ensemble member, as he seemed completely unaware of what anyone else was doing onstage. That, at least, should improve in time.

as much as I love *Nsync, I suppose I could see that.

Lance was always the worst dancer of the group (except he got much better on there very last tour) and of course never the most fun to watch (I mean who could be with Justin around!? lol)

wow, I feel like I'm 13 again....

Oh.

Well, he's just getting use to the role.
He's probably nervous and unsure right now.
Give him a week or two, he'll be fine.
Hey, Ashley Parker Angel was not that great on his first day, I bet.

Is this the first real falter in Hairspray's stunt casting trend? I enjoy Alexa Vega, Ashley Parker Angel, Diana DeGarmo, Ashley Spencer and even Jerry Mathers.

I see the show a lot, and I'm more than willing to eat my words if he improves. I'll let you know.

What I saw of Alexa Vega made me wanna stab myself in the ears.
Jerry Mathers seemed sweet and completely charming.
Loved Diana.
Ashley Parker Angel is pretty good.
Have yet to see Ashley Spencer

I don't quite know why they cast him as Corny when he's a bass.

I didn't comment on Niki (who also started 8/10) because she was perfectly good and I feel will really grow into the role. She's not there yet, but has potential.

"I don't quite know why they cast him as Corny when he's a bass. "

That was my inital reaction as well.
I will not judge him till I have seen him.

Plus, no one will ever compare to Jonathan [the previous Corny]

i was there tonight as well for lance's 2nd show. He was so nervous. he flubbed lines. rushed lines. talked so fast you couldnt understand a word he was saying. But he will be good eventually. he just needs time. his vocals were weak. but it is just nerves. he will get better. he didnt do as bad as i thought. he could be worse, but could be waaaaaay better. give him time. he has never done a show before. which blows me away that his first is a Broadway show...wow what casting directors let slide if you are a "big" name! ugh! o well. Michelle Dowdy wasn't a fab tracey. very weak a boring. kinda like she came out of a tracy turnblad mold. the star of the night was seriously Susan Mosher who plays the gym teacher, pennys mom, etc. She was so funny. the best since Jackie Hoffman. Maybe slighty better than Jackie. Ashley Spencer was really great as well. Good thing Grease did not cast her as Sandy! lol

I completely agree, Lauren T.

It's beginner's nerves.
He will get better.
He seemed nervous on Regis and Kelly the other day.
It's nerve-wracking walking into a multi-million dollar Broadway musical that's been running for almost 5 years.

Jerry Mathers. Lance being unimpressive. And to top it off, Shannon being out lately. Why am I starting to loathe my favorite show?
