A friend's nephew's contribution to his Boy Scout bake sale.
What can you say about a Rice Crispy Treat Cake that looks like this? Dig in an enjoy?

Did they come as a matched set?

I mean, it might not be as bad if you were just eating a puffed rice/marshmallow snack (I'm using the generic name here) if it just said "ALL SOME * SOME *."

What boyscout would have come up with something like this? The inspiration seems to be from some sort of tacky Hallmarkesque poster of the twin towers.

Addison, I'm speechless.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

With it sliced down the middle, I kept reading as:

All Some Some, Gave 9-11 Gave All

Truly inspiring, when you look at it that way.

Okay that singing link posted above? It could have only been worse if it was set to the song "I'll Tumble For You".

9-11 certainly made me want to get stoned so I could turn off my mind, relax and float downstream.

And what do you want when you're stoned? RICE KRISPIE TREATS!

It's all in how you look at it, and then it makes sense!

"How about those twin towers, bay-bee??"

I'm all for the balm of humor to deal with tragedy, but this has absolutely dropped my jaw.

So little time has passed, it seems.

And yet, in our society of now, NOW, NOW, I guess it is inevitable.

Personally, I just can't go down this road - at least not yet.

Enjoy the trip, those that do.

I was on a plane tonight, sitting on the runway. I popped my ipod out and selected shuffle. The first song that came on was Melissa Etheridge's song, Tuesday Morning(about flight 93). That will give you the creeps right before take off.

Okay, back to the cookie discussion...

DG...that's an interesting point.

It's funny...but if I run into a New Yorker and some sort of off-color 9/11 remark is made, I can laugh. But if a West Coaster made the exact same remark, I would end up offended. I guess the idea of going through that horror in the City together allows us more freedom with each other. It's actually a point of bonding. But for someone who wasn't here? Who couldn't really understand what it was like in this City that day? I don't know...I wouldn't care for that person making some sort of crack. Guess I'm a hypocrite.

Robbie, I can relate to what you said. Right after 9/11 happened, my cousin, who lives in Nebraska (yes, she and the other 4 people, lol) called me to say how horrible she felt about "us in New York." She went on and on about how glad she was to be living in Nebraska where they probably would never suffer terrorism, etc.

All the time she was talking, it sounded like she was distancing herself not only by miles, but by country, from us New Yorkers. And I took offense. This was an attack on the US, not just NY!

True.

And frankly, I'd rather be blown up in the subway than live in Nebraska.

And THAT, folks, is an example of the gallows humor I'm a-talkin' about!

What if it's someone who at the time of 9/11 was a west coaster but has since become a New Yorker?

Well...I get on the subway every single day thinking, 'This could be the day.' Anyone who lives with that, whether they were here or not on 9/11, has every right to join in the dark humor that keeps us going.

And, of course, this is just my personal opinion...others will feel VERY differently about this topic.

My cousin invited the family to his home for Easter dinner a few years ago. There was a huge crowd, which included his wife's sisters and their spouses. One of these sisters is a Born Again Christian and her contribution to the meal was a huge sheet cake that she baked. It was covered with vanilla and coconut icing and spelled out across is were the words "God Is Love"--in jellybeans.

Oh, and before the meal, she and her husband led Grace and her husband thanked God for all the "nutriment" that we were all about to enjoy.

I ask you!
