I was wondering if anyone out there, ever saw Michael Bennett's 'Ballroom'.I fell in love with the Billy Goldenberg/Alan & Marilyn Bergman score many years ago.I still live in hope, that one day I may get to see it on a stage.

I saw it & found it was entertaining & did not deserve the fate it did

Loudon was great & the choreography was very good & showed bennett's versatility

I love the score as well as Loudon's performance on the CD. I never got to see it however. A few years back it resurfaced in a few places, Chicago being one of them, with the title "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom" after the TV movie it is based on. I'd love to see either version.

I saw it and loved it.
One of my ballet teachers Dorothy Lister from the Joffrey School was in it.
I would really like to see it again today loving Michael Bennett choreography the way I do.

I think this is the kind of show that Encores! should really tackle or that Roundabout should take a look at. With a great woman in the lead (Bernadette Peters anyone?) the show could play a limited engagement somehow and resurface some kind of interest in the show. The score fails at times (especially given the fact only a couple of characters get to sing) but songs like "A Terrific Band a Real Nice Crowd," "Fifty Percent," "I Wish You a Waltz," and "More of the Same" deserve a second chance.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I saw BALLROOM on it's opening night in New York. A flawed work, but touching and beautifully performed. Dorothy Loudon was sensational, as was Vincent Gardenia, and the choreography (and the way it was lighted) was spectacular. If Loudon hadn't been up against Lansbury that year, she might have gotten her second Tony for it. Unfortunately, it never quite came up to the expectations placed upon it just because it was Michael Bennett's follow up to A CHORUS LINE.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

re: BALLROOM

Interesting to read on IBDB that Liz Sheridan, Seinfeld's TV Mom, was Dorothy Loudon's Understudy.

Twenty years ago today Michael Bennett passed away. What a wonderful talent that was taken from us too soon. His choreography and direction made even a flawed show like Ballroom enjoyable and memorable.
