Im hoping this develops into a West End Revival:

Lindsay, Rawle and Tierney Will Join Essex for Aspects Tour
By Andrew Gans
14 May 2007

Matt Rawle

Principal casting has been announced for the forthcoming U.K. tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love, which will feature the previously announced David Essex in the role of George.

Essex will be joined onstage by Shona Lindsay (The Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) as Rose Vibert, Matt Rawle (current revival of Evita, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre) as Alex Dillingam and Poppy Tierney (Mary Poppins, Les Misérables, Miss Saigon) as Guilietta Trapani.

The U.K. tour of Aspects of Love will kick off at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle Aug. 31 before playing stops in Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Aberdeen, Bradford, Stoke on Trent, Manchester, Glasgow, Wolverhampton, Plymouth, Norwich and Bath. Nikolai Foster will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Gary Lloyd.

The creative team will also include Rob Jones (design), Guy Hoare (lighting design), Mike Walker (sound design) and David Shrubsole (musical supervision and orchestrations).

Aspects of Love, according to press notes, is set in 1947 when "English student Alex Dillingham [is] traveling through France [and] before his call up, falls in love with the alluring actress Rose Vibert. After a little persuasion, Rose joins Alex at his uncle's villa. As the pair embark on a passionate affair, the unexpected arrival of Uncle George (Essex) changes their lives forever. From the cobbled streets of Paris to the mountains of the Pyrenees, [the musical] is a heartbreaking love story spanning twenty years. Passion, desire, family ties and friendship bind six people and three generations together as they come to appreciate how love changes everything."

Aspects of Love — featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Don Black and Charles Hart — opened in the West End in 1989 with a cast led by Michael Ball, Ann Crumb and Kevin Colson. Trevor Nunn directed. The score features such tunes as "Seeing Is Believing," "Anything But Lonely" and "Love Changes Everything." Ball, Crumb and Colson also headed the New York company, which played 377 performances at the Broadhurst Theatre from March 1990 to March 1991.

Kenny Wax and Michael Harrison are producing in association with PW Productions.

You should check Aspects of Love section on ALW's shows official site for that.

I also hope a new London revival comes from this, plus a new recording.

I did 2 days ago--and no added info...

It could use a new recording--I saw the wonderful Robin Phillips production in its premiere in Edmonton--where I lived at the time when I was 11 and remember the score was sligthly revised--but don't remember the changes of course

I'm not sure how will Matt Rawle do in the role of Alex. I saw him in Evita in London last summer and on the recording. While he did quite well for most of the time, he tended to sing in a too high and nasal manner. That worked for the most part in Evita, but I think he should change it for Aspects.

Is Che written on stage in a higher key than Alex? My friend who saw Evita was acutlaly more impressed by him than Elena--but maybe it was just a crush re: ASPECTS OF LOVE UK Tour News

I've always had a soft spot for this show, and was quite interested when i heard that it was touring, but i'm not a huge fan of Matt Rawle who destoyed the Evita revival for me, and as for David Essex, dont get me started.

I suppose Che is written higher than the role of Alex. Although Matt was good on stage, I personally didn't find his performance to be so spectacular.

As for David Essex, I quite liked his Che. I prefer an actor with a deeper voice in the role.

Thats one reason Im hoping for a full fledged revival because I doubt I'll get to London, but would love a new recording. Although the remastered London one sounds better than the original london one.
