I am still in awe of what I saw yesterday at Spring Awakening. It is definitely one of my two favorite shows ever, along with The Drowsy Chaperone. It is absolutely unbelievable. I will definitely see this show a couple more times at least. I highly recommend. It has a great cast, great sets, great music, great book, etc.

I love how most of the cast are college students. It makes it very easy and fun to talk to them after the show and it easy to connect with eachother. There are no egos here yet and it is easy to feel like you know them.

Everyone see this show and let's keep it alive for a long time!

Oh god.

This is going to be just like WICKED.

Saw WICKED, thought it was entertaining. The fans made me despise it.

Let's not let this happen again.

Actually, some of the cast members are high school students. But yes, they are all so lovely and gracious to their fans. One guy who started the fan group on MySpace posted that at the stage door, he identified himself to Lea Michelle as the guy who has been sending them all love letters through their individual MySpace pages. Instead of thinking "Ew, freaky stalker!", Lea hugged him, said, "so YOU'RE the guy! Everyone's talking about you" and brought him over to meet everyone else.
Thanks for your review!

I'm with you Munk. I'll soon despise this show if the drooling continues...

Seriously, I love this show too much. The teenybopper fans better not ruin this one for me like they did Rent and Wicked.

For MUNK, the cranky message board poster who's moniker comes from CATS: that alone implies you have little room to talk.

And to the other crabs......

Duncan had an aversion to doing musical theatre because of attitudes like yours. Don't be snotty theatre dorks.

Not becoming.

Rent was never a good show to begin with, and Wicked is boring. Nothing was ruined.

OK, this is supposed be a love thread for Spring Awakening... can we please not discuss Rent and Wicked?

I am so excited to see Spring Awakening next month. I can't stop listening to the music.

Tom, Munkus,
I think people (like myself) are just so glad to have a show on Broadway that is deserving, genuinely artistic and is like nothing else out there. I know I am usually the last person to babble on and on about a show, but I find myself so passionate about this piece. It's searing honesty, gifted performances and pure craftmanship has reminded this already jaded theatre goer (at the age of 28!) why he fell in love with theatre in the first place. It's like I'm seeing my first show again.

I think much of the passion which seems to annoy you is that for a while there, before the critics came out, there were some posters who were decidedly negative, and beyond that, mean spirited about it, and I think the passionate ones were just leaping to Spring's defense.

These are intelligent people and theatre craftsmen who are espousing their love for this show, writing intelligent posts.

Oh Munk, that's what I was afraid of. The show is amazing IMO but I feel like I should stay far away from this message board to avoid it.

When I saw "Sweeney Todd" in the Eugene O'Neil Theater on closing night, I asked Michael Cerveris what show was going into the theater next. He told me "Spring Awakening" and he also told me that I would really enjoy it. So, I waited to find out what it was about and to listen to a few songs. I liked the synopsis and I haven't heard any songs yet. If anybody could please tell me where I can hear some clips from the songs from the show? Thanks for your help!

I agree--I loved it and think it's brilliant, too. I'm just afraid too much "love" will start a backlash...

I just got back from today's 2PM show. I was completely blown away and it was everything I expected it to be and more.

I got to the rush line a little after 10 and right after that people just keep coming.(of course I got stuck behind these really rude and annoying girls that I sadly had to listen to for 2 hours since I forgot my ipod) I believe the line was all the way to 8th by noon.

The show is amazing. The storyline is intense. Every single person on that stage is insanely talented. Be prepared to be shocked, to cry, to laugh, and to feel real emotion. I really didn't want it to end.

The cast is also extremely friendly at stagedoor and seem like they really appreciated every person who came to see it.

I wouldn't recommended it to anyone who is under 15 but thats just my personal opinion. I don't think people will be disappointed though

I finished reading the play on Friday, then went back and re-read it and wow, there are a lot of things I didn't notice the first time around. It's absolutely amazing.

Can someone just tell me the basic differences between the play and the musical? I can tell from the cast album that they're definitely very different, but I'm looking for specifics.

I do know that in the musical, there is no Masked Man.

Adding to the love - I'm dying to see this.

"I'm with you Munk. I'll soon despise this show if the drooling continues..."

Why would you despise THE SHOW...? Despising the fans, yes...but the show itself...come on now. Even though wicked has become so comercial...and yes I was a fan before it was a huge thing, despite the appearance of my BWW name. I never let the hype ruin it for me. Now Wicked is kinda cheesey, so not losing interest is understandable, but Spring Awakening is just not the same thing. If the hype bothers you stay away from it...Don't open threads pertaining to it etc.

How can they see with sequins in their eyes?

I don't think Spring Awakening will be ruined by the "teeny boppers" who have commercialized Wicked becuase I think most of those kids' parents won't let them see Spring Awakening! Even though they want the teens to come I still think most parents are going to have a hard time letting some of the "preteens" see it. When I saw it during a preview their was a mother and her daughter watching it and they walked out after the masturbation part.
