I saw Rocky years ago in Phoenix in a small theater. It was good, but the experience is so much more fun when you can participate during the movie. Not to mention dressing up. If they do bring it back, I think it would be better as an off-broadway production. But if you are a Rocky "virgin", go to a midnight screening, bring your props, and have a great time.

Unfortunately, it's too big of a show to work in the current Off-Broadway financial climate, where even shows with a cast of 4 or 5 struggle to break even. Even at a large (499 seat) Off-Broadway space, the show would have a very hard time succeeding.

I had a great time at the Rocky Horror fest.

Rocky Horror has a very special place in my heart, so I of course would love to see it come back. However, there is a blatant disrespect for the show within the theatre community. I, personally would love to see a revival of this show, something entertaining, before a revival of another depressing broadway "classic" like Les Mis.

"Yeah, the original Rocky Horror was at the Belasco, and it's the show for which the Belasco's interior was irrevocably destroyed - all for a one-month loser of a show. Another reason to hate Rocky Horror."

Totally your opinion, but I say thank god it played at least one month. IT's not an easy pill to swallow, after all.

Although I will concede that ROCKY HORROR Live appeals to a limited audience and that is why it is destined to run in short spurts, you can add me to the list of people who absolutely love this show.

I didn't see it the first time around, but the revival was terrific! The cast was filled with a lot of talent, many of whom work often still, not always on Broadway, but with their own bands, out of state, on the road tours, etc. Do any of these names Kevin Cahoon, Daphne Rubin Vega, Terrence Mann, Mark Price, Asa Somers, Alice Ripley, et.al ring bells? There were others, too, Denise Summerford, Jonathan Sharp, John Jeffrey Martin, who were not only great to watch perform, but who were very nice to meet. I visited RH many, many times, but I couldn't get enough of this very fun time at the Circle in the Square. Many times when there wasn't a lot to smile about (espec. 9/11), RH was great escapism.

As far as the movie, I still enjoy it, but after seeing this show live; there is no comparison. Live theatre participation as opposed to standing in front of a movie screen...priceless.

I would love to see it come back. I saw it multiple times a week in the months before it closed.

Watching the movie isnt the same, yelling at the screen is funny but its funnier when the performer can yell back. Some of the funniest moments for me was when the audience would respond to the line "I knew he was in with a bad crowd but it was worse than I had imagined" with ACTORS and the entire cast would flip the bird at the audience.

*sigh* I did Rocky Horror back in October... I miss it.

I would have to agree with most people here in that even though I love this show, I too don't think it could do well on Broadway at this moment. If it were to open today, perhaps off-Broadway would be a better place.

... and then Hedwig could open right next door.

What an area that would be to walk through.

>Smaxie, what exactly did they remove from the theatre?<

They attempted to create a cabaret-like atmosphere in the Belasco for Rocky Horror. So the four lower boxes in the theatre were removed, and a number of murals were destroyed. (I think I've read somewhere that as many as nine of the theatre's original 14 murals were sacrificed). Also too, there is beautiful woodwork on the sides of the orchestra level that was covered with white paint, though I don't know if that was also done for Rocky Horror, but I would just as much assume so. Unlike other shows that have altered a theatre's interior, the Belasco has never been restored to its pre-Rocky condition, and has been sitting there, maimed and disfigured for over 35 years.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

As much as I LOVE Rocky Horror (hence the username) I really wasn't a fan of the revival. Don't get me wrong, the cast was perfect (with the exception of Joan Jett) and the best cast so far in my eyes, but I just didn't like the staging.

I didn't care much for the abstract set design, as it didn't really set the atmosphere of the scene - eg. a terrifying castle, a lab etc

The costumes were good but I abseloutely hated Columbia's bondage style outfit, complete with leather and chains.

As for a revival - Well if they were to revive the show, I would much prefer to see a version similair to the current UK Tour. The set, lighting, musical arrangements, choreography and costume design are all spot on, as well as having a stellar cast. The new UK tour is a lot less reliant on the audience participation. Some of the dialogue has even been altered in order to lessen the ammount of innapropriate and unnecessary participation. This was a decision made my Richard O'Brien himself, with the help of the director Chris Luscombe.

So I say bring back Rocky, but with a new concept!

**sigh** Rocky Horror how I miss you.

I saw the last revival of Rocky Horror with my friends over and over again. After 40 times I lost count. Needless to say, I completely loved that show. I thought it was brilliantly done.

BUT it was awful that they used 9/11 as the reason for it closing (then re-opening for a milimited run, then closing again.) It was doing poor business for quite a long time before that.

Still - I would love to see ita gain. Guess I need to book a ticket over to the UK.
