I just came back from seeing The Who at the Garden. I have never seen them live and it was a fantastic show. They are still incredible. This really made me want to see Tommy on Broadway. I hope they bring back Tommy and cast Cerveris!
They sang Pinball Wizard and many others from Tommy!
Cool! I love The Who, and I'm seeing them in November. I'm so glad they're doing Tommy songs; those songs are the songs that got me hooked on the band!
I LOVE the who and the are the best rock band ever and saw them for the 3rd time monday at MSG. However, I got into the actual album of tommy and thier other stuff before I bought the cast album to the musical. When it opened there were a group of who fans who liked it and thought it was a cleaver idea. There were others like myself who thought Townshend murderd his own masterpeace by having it be sugarcoated theatre rock instead of the raw loud rock it's supposed to be. I NEVER want to see that show on broadway again.

I would LOVE to see Tommy again on stage. It was one of the most incredible shows I've seen. It competes with the revival Sweeney for my favorite (depending on the day). The energy levels in that show were off the charts. I really think it took me a few days to come off that high.
I never did get to see it with Michael on Bway, rather, I saw it in Toronto with Tyley Ross who was AMAZING.
Ah, I can dream...hell, look at all the revivals...why not this one?
I don't see it happening anytime soon, but the original production was just amazing. I spent a good chunk of my teenage years obsessing over the show and buying every piece of junk with the show's logo on it -- still have most of it in a closet somewhere.
For those who love Tommy and haven't had a chance to see The Who perform it live, there's a great concert video of them performing the entire thing with an orchestra and a few guest stars (Billy Idol as Cousin Kevin, Phil Collins as Uncle Ernie, Patti LaBelle as the Acid Queen, and Elton John doing Pinball Wizard).
What I'd rather see than a Tommy revival is the stuff Pete Townsend aluded to in the Tommy coffee table book -- where he felt he had found a new home as a writer and hoped to write something new for Broadway. The Who Live: Featuring the Rock Opera TOMMY
They did portions of Wire & Glass last night at MSG and it was AMAZING! It was the first time I saw The Who in concert and it was truly an incredible show.
Why was I born in Massachusetts? The Who are live? This sucks!!!!!!!!!!! I love Tommy!!!!!!!!!!!
