Spelling Bee, unless you like big shows, then Wicked.

In my opinion, Spelling Bee feels kinda cheap [as a whole production] compared to most musicals. You'll get lots of laughs, but it might not be the best nights ever.
Wicked, on the other hand, is not that great either, but at least others like it! :)
"Hey, you! You're the worst thing to happen to musical theatre since Andrew Lloyd Webber!"
-Family Guy
Spelling Bee..."Wicked" is great, but I think the current cast you could skip (and I'm sure it will be around longer, and it's more accessible to see), where as Bee currently has an amazing cast. You'll love it!

There is a curious paradox that no one can explain;
Who understands the secret of the reaping of the grain,
Who understands why spring is born out of winter's laboring pain,
Or why we all must die a bit before we grow again.

If you are there on a wednesday, try the Matinee Wicked Lottery, if you don't get in go see Spelling Bee...then try teh Wicked lottery again. That's my favorite thing to do....
But Chicago's Bee is absolutely amazing. I love Wednesdays...two show days!!
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Yup, the production of tick, tick....boom was great. I saw it a few weeks ago. If you are only choosing between Wicked or Spelling Bee, I would say choose Wicked.
"Why do you care what people might say? Why try to fit into their design?" (Side Show)
As much as I love both Spelling Bee and Wicked, I honestly would say go see Wicked. The energy level"bigness" of the production beats out Spelling Bee. Especially if you're looking to have a fun filled night...Wicked is better only because its a "blockbuster" and Spelling Bee is up in the air, depending on how well the audience is that night.
Spelling Bee for a brilliant show with loads of humor and heart and amazing lyrics. Wicked for a spectacle with catchy music and big effects, I don't know much about it from the OBC so I'm biased. But I think Spelling Bee is jsut genius.

- from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
Wicked is pretty much sold out so unless you win the lottery you won't be able to see Wicked. I tried to win the Wicked lottery for the Saturday afternoon show but no luck so I then did the Spelling Bee lottery for the evening show and everyone who entered won tickets. So Spelling Bee lottery is much easier and the show is great.

wicked for sure......ive seen both and if you want the feeling of going to a real musical, chills and all, then go see wicked....if you want something light hearted that is really more of a "show"(if you know what i mean) then a musical where you really get into the story and the characters as if you were one of them then go see Spelling Bee.....granted, spelling bee will sure set you up for a night of laughs but i dont think it does the job of captuing each individual and taking it on an adventure.....just my opinion
