I was just revisitng the Bat Boy days, and I came to the conclusion that I liked Sean McCourt's voice better in Wicked as Elphaba's Father than his major role in Bat Boy as Dr. Thomas Parker. I haven't seen Bat Boy staged like I have Wicked, but I have listened to both recordings numerous times. Any feedback
He doesn't show off his voice in Wicked, at all. He's Dr. Dillamond, for crying out loud. That gives no leeway for a voice. Plus, his part as the witch's father is about 20 seconds long.

I have to buy the Bat Boy recording. I like his voice, but I feel like Wicked is a waste of it.

Sean McCourt is a great actor, but whenever I hear him sing, he always sounds like he's straining and/or trying so hard to hit any high notes. It's one thing that's always turned me off about his singing.
He was in great voice when I saw him in Bat Boy (more than once, so it wasn't just a fluke). He was also hilariously funny in the role of Dr. Parker. I adore him. Really nice guy, too.
You should buy his solo CD to really hear his voice. He actually reminds me a lot of James Taylor on that disc. So if you don't like Mr. Taylor, you might not like an entire CD of Mr. McCourt.

i think he is fantastic. He was awesome as the Wizard during Kristen and Norbert's last performance.
