I've been trying to look for Sondheim's Passion in Italian for some time now. I could neither find the cd nor a page that displays the lyrics. Either i'm not looking hard enought or this doesn't exist. anyone know where i could find this?

Honestly, I really doubt that there's an Italian translation. It wasn't a big hit here, so I doubt they did any foreign language translations. I'm 99.9% sure it didn't have a company in Italy.

you'd think the best musical of 1994 would get more credit. it's just not one of those musicals that appeals to the masses.

I've never figured out why so many people dislike this musical. The music is just so beautiful.

I just listened to the Michael Ball version of Passion lol I guess that would be the London cast. I bought it off of ebay and I absolutely loved it. I have never heard the whole show before just the song Loving You. It is a great show in my opinion.

I have RSD...but it doesn't have me!!!!

Oh, I absolutely adore Passion! I got the OBC DVD for Christmas and have watched it countless times already! It is a shame that real, honest to God book musicals have not been doing so well.

As you can tell from my avatar Passion is my favorite show. Isabella, I doubt you'll find an Italian version of the show; most shows that get international productions are the big hits like Les Miserables, Phantom, Chicago, and shows that are more appealing to audiences than Passion. I remember back in 1994 my dad would advertise this show wherever he went to but not many people wanted to see it given they preferred to see a little thing called Beauty and the Beast. Also, people weren't comfortable with the character of Fosca, they didn't know what to make out of her. I was 14 when I went to see it and I remember crying after Donna Murphy sang "I Wish I Could Forget You" but a lot of the people were confused by the material. The DVD is great but I think experiencing the show live with the original cast is one of the most significant moments of my life.

"Passion" is my favorite musical, as well. I cannot express in words how much it's meant to me, and how much I love the character of Fosca.

Isabella, I know it's not what you were looking for, but I'll bet you can find the original novel in Italian..I have the English translation and it's worth reading if you like the show, if only to really understand Fosca better.

I'm so glad I've found people who love this show as much as I do! I have been sharing this show to as many people as I can, and a lot of them learn to really love it, but some just can't (like other people have said) deal with the character of Fosca. I, personally, think she is a devastatingly beautiful character, and relate to her very deeply. I can't even say how much I love this show.

I, too, agree that the original novel is worth a read.

Passion is a terrible show. Who wants to see an ugly-ass woman stalk a hot guy anyway? Obviously the lady with the big boobs is SO much HOTTER. Who cares if she's dull conversation?

Honestly, I never got why everyone has no problem with the story of Beauty and the Beast (an self pitying ugly beast *LITERALLY* who falls in love with an attractive young woman) but has issues with Passion's story.

At least Sondheim doesn't support beastiality :P
