and i'm sure it's been asked before but... why was there never an original BROADWAY cast recording for Mamma Mia?

Nope, though that would be awesome. I believe that it's the original London cast that was recorded (Correct me if I'm wrong)?

The Decca recording of it is labeled Broadway before Orignal, and is often mistaken for the OBC.

I think you are right. I think Decca Broadway refers to the company that puts out the CD, because what I have says Original Cast Album, but from what I recall, it had not gone to Broadway yet when my parents took me and gave me the CD.

On the back there is a logo that says "Decca Broadway" which may explain the confusion.

I am sure someone here has more info.

yeah, because i've had the london "decca broadway" cast recording for five years now. not that i'm unhappy with it at all. no reason why i thought to ask about it now... just one of those queries that pop into one's head.
