...the original commercial for Rent? I remember there were people walking and singing "No day but today" at the end. Or did I dream that? Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Was that the original cast? Discuss, s'il vous plaît. I feel like I have seen a picture of the cast on one of the New York bridges...was that where that part of the commercial was?
"Smart! And into all those exotic mystiques -- The Kama Sutra and Chinese techniques. I hear she knows more than seventy-five. Call me tomorrow if you're still alive!"
Here's a link to forget-regret.net's video page. It's the first one listed under "the musical." There's also a list of who's in the commercial. Click me.
well, if that's true, Emcee, then they need to close Rent so the people who can't get to New York to see the stage show (or the traveling show) can see how much better it is on stage than on film (and I liked the film, BTW).
Of course, I'm kidding about closing Rent, but you get my point.
There's some wacky rumor that a professional tape of the OBC is hiding somewhere to be released when the show closes to keep the Rentheads from totally losing their marbles. Who knows?
Well, I don't know about the losing my marbles part, but I sure will be one of the first in line to get that DVD (I assume) when it comes out.
I never saw Into The Woods live, but the video of that show is wonderful. So, I don't think anything would really be lost in translation to video for Rent.
They should close Rent so that the people who can't get to NY to see the show can get to the Lincoln Center Library in NY to view the tape?
My brain hurts.

aw....memories!! i remember, back before i saw the show (i saw it for the first time in 2000) ....that i saw a commercial for rent, but at that time i knew absolutely nothing about the show whatsoever, but the music still struck a chord in me, because i thought to myself "hm that music sounds great, i should check that out sometime" --- wow that was the longest run on sentence ever, nice.
and then months after that i believe is when i saw it for the first time, and ....happy sigh...hooked ever since.

"I would rather take a flawed movie that has as much heart and passion and life and joy and energy and truth in it as this film does over any film that is completely perfectly presented and perfectly constructed but has none of that heart and life." -Anthony Rapp
dmb_rent: That is exactly why i want to see it sometime again! I remember seeing the commercial (and it may very well have been with Norbert) and thinking "Oh my gosh, this music is great!" All I can picture in my head is people walking and singing "no day but today" Which is DEFINITLEY not how that goes on stage at all...plus they were outside.
I would imagine so, even if -- assuming they're in proportion with your four-inch self -- your teeth are quite small! I think you should chew him out if he ever returns.
