Audra was the Beggar Woman if I remember correctly.

Even though I would be happy, It probably won't TheaterDiva.

From what I recall, the recent revival of Gypsy was supposely planned to be recorded and to be premiered on PBS. Even though all of the production team was for it, only Mr. Laurents was against it. Adding the grudge against Mrs. LuPone, you can bet that the performance(s?) will go unrecorded.

Ok, so I've been looking a couple of things up, and yes, two concerts that premiered with the trio at Ravinia came to New York at some point, the first being Sweeney Todd - it had its concert at Ravinia over the summer of 1999, then went to New York in 2000, which was why it was recorded - and then Passion did the same thing for the year after that, so yes LuPone did say she did Passion at Ravinia because she had. However, none of the shows after those two seem to have followed that trend, which is unfortunate, as neither A Little Night Music, nor Sunday in the Park, nor (so far) Anyone Can Whistle have had recent concerts in NY with the same people.

::Edit:: You beat me to it, MusicRox - I was about to say Audra was the Beggar Woman Updated On: 11/13/05 at 11:25 PM

Bah, what every person has to say is equally important, unless they don't say it all.

Actually, the "Sweeney" concert version was first done with the New York Philharmonic in 2000, which was recorded, then in San Francisco in 2001, where it was filmed. Ravinia had the final performances in August 2001, followed by ALNM in 2002, and Passion in 2003.

Laurents should kiss the ground LuPone walks on! She is a true Star of the Musical Stage!

Judy Garland would have been an excellent Rose in "Gypsy"

Why do I have the crazy idea that once there was supposed to be a production or a movie of Gypsy starring Garland as Rose and Liza as Louise? Is it true that this was ever about to happen?
